Your route starts at Restaurant Aan De Hoeve, where you can enjoy a delicious slice of Limburg pie on the lovely terrace. Along the Rothenbach, you can admire the Gitstappermolen (Gitstapper Mill) dating back to 1377. The watermill is fed by the Rothenbach, or Rode Beek, which flows further into the Roer River. The Rothenbach forms a border between Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia) and the Netherlands (Limburg). At the Gitstapperhof, there's a shop selling homemade bread and cake mixes made in the Gitstappermolen. From here, you'll walk straight into the Meinweg National Park. The area is known for its unique terraced landscape. These terraces were formed over tens of thousands of years by the erosion of the Meuse River and three fault lines in the Earth's crust. You'll walk through dense, ancient forests and stream valleys.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
