Description

The route starts and ends at Tilburg Reeshof station. There is plenty of free parking here. In contrast to the routes"Around Tilburg\\\" with a sequence number up to and including 13, this route does not go in a specific direction from Tilburg and back, but goes around Tilburg in a wide bend.

The route starts in a northerly direction, through the De Reeshof district. After crossing the Wilhelmina Canal over a bicycle bridge, we drive for a short time through an industrial estate until we arrive at the Coca Cola factories (not open to visitors). There is a café-restaurant here with a charging point.

We drive further through typical Brabant arable land to the village of De Moer where there is a war memorial, a café-restaurant and another charging point. Here we turn east, to Loon op Zand and the associated Loonse and Drunense Duinen, a national park.

We do not drive into the dunes but stay at café-restaurant Bosch en Duin, where there is also an information point, two war memorials, a viewpoint over the dunes (300 meters on a paved walking path) and a charging point.

We continue our tour south to Udenhout. Here you will find De Strijdhoeve, the Vincentius nursing home and the former town hall.

A little later we are back in Berkel-Enschot, where we pass the former monastery of the Trapistines (and again a former town hall: Udenhout and Berkel-Enschot have been annexed by Tilburg). You pass Hotel De Druiventros and drive through the hamlet of Heukelom.

Via café Mie Pieters we drive on to Moergestel, where we turn right towards the abbey of Our Lady of Koningshoeven. Here you will find a sheepfold and an abbey shop where you can of course buy Trappist beer. Guided tours of the old brewery are given at the abbey itself, in combination with a beer tasting. There is also a café-restaurant here and you will find a charging point here.

From here we drive further west through the Leijpark and past the Sint-Elisabeth Hospital. We drive past a former sand quarry over the Lage Wal and the Hoge Wal towards Goirle. In the De Hellen district you will see an old farm, De Deel, which is now a community center.

We arrive in Riel along the northern edge of the De Regte Heide nature reserve. Here too there is a charging point, several café-restaurants and a war memorial (on your right, in a front garden at the end of Dorpsstraat and Beatrixstraat).

From Riel we follow the Bels Lijntje in a northerly direction. This tourist cycle path follows the route of the former railway line from Tilburg to Turnhout (Belgium). At junction 9 we turn left, across the Gilzerbaan in the direction of the Brabant Water pumping station. Groundwater is pumped here for Central Brabant, and the Prize d\\\'Eau brand is also bottled.

At the pumping station we turn right in a northerly direction. In the woods on your right is Amarant House, a nursing home for people with intellectual disabilities. A little further on you will return to the starting point of our tour: Tilburg University station.
