Oudewater is the oldest city in the Green Heart. Here you can admire the fifteenth-century St. Michael's Church. The town hall built in 1588 with its Renaissance facade is also a beautiful sight, as is the Waag from 1482. Oudewater has the only 'reliable' witches' weighing house in Europe. In the Middle Ages, skinny ladies were weighed here. Anyone found wanting was a witch, and was burned at the stake. After a stop at your starting point for lunch, you will take a nice tour along the Hollandse IJssel. In the Veenweide Park you can enjoy a real old Dutch picture with meadow birds, flowery plots and cows in the meadow. A beautiful example of the peat meadow landscape in the Krimpenerwaard!
