Oudewater, Utrecht, The Netherlands

Oudewater is the oldest city in the Groene Hart. Here you can admire the fifteenth-century St. Michael's Church. The town hall with its Renaissance facade, built in 1588, is also a picture, as is the Waag from 1482. Oudewater has the only 'reliable' witches' scale in Europe. In the Middle Ages, skinny ladies were weighed here. Anyone who was found too light was a witch, after which the stake followed. After a stop at your starting point for lunch, you will make another beautiful round along the Hollandse IJssel. In the Veenweidepark you can enjoy a real old Dutch picture with meadow birds, flower-filled plots and cows in the meadow. A beautiful example of the peat meadow landscape in the Krimpenerwaard!
