Tour of Twickel and Delden

Your route starts at Hotel Restaurant Wapen Van Delden. Just above Delden lies Landgoed Twickel, a historic country estate. A true Twente showpiece that is more than worth a visit. What a wonderful atmosphere you will find here! Twickel Castle originally dates from the sixteenth century. Landgoed Twickel is famous for its lush gardens and park. The farms that belong to the estate can be recognized by the white shutters with black edges. On the estate you can admire a unique collection of citrus trees in the orangery by Dutch standards. There are also a few sights in Delden itself, such as the Oude Blasiuskerk. Delden was already mentioned in 1036 and there was already a church there in 1118. In 1333, the small fortified town, which had two city gates, was granted city rights.
