Tour of Engelermeer from Vlijmen

Your route starts at Ice & Cake Moment. In Vlijmen you can see some beautiful old buildings. From here you can easily walk to the Engelermeer. This lake is probably the remains of an old Meuse channel from before the thirteenth century. Here you will find a mixture of swamp forests, reed beds and cultivated land, close to the city. You can swim in this sand extraction lake. At a beautiful location, almost in the Engelermeer, you can see the special water sports pavilion Engelermeer. A circular building, constructed of cold-rolled steel from car wrecks. The bird and nature watch department of Den Bosch has constructed a wall along the Engelermeer with 200 nesting holes for the endangered sand martin. The steep walls of the Engelermeer have always been a favorite breeding ground for this bird, but due to the excavation work, the nesting places disappeared.
