Description

Your route starts at IJs & Taartmoment. From here you can walk straight into the low peat swamp De Moerputten, one of the nature reserves just outside the city of 's-Hertogenbosch. With 120 hectares, they form the largest low peat area in North Brabant, one of the few south of the major rivers and therefore important for the Netherlands. You will see swamps, reed and rush fields, open water, groves of alders and willows. The name comes from nuts: cutting peat. You cross the 30 hectare lake in the middle of the area with a former railway bridge, the construction of which led to the creation of the lake. It is part of the Halvezolenlijntje, named after the shoe parts and leather that were transported by train. It was only a single (half) line: a half-sole line.
