E-bike route Twente and Sallandse Heuvelrug

Your route starts at Hotel Restaurant Wapen Van Delden. First you drive to Landhuishotel and Bistro Herikerberg for a cup of coffee. You are on a true hilltop here! The landscape of the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park was formed 200,000 years ago by glaciers from Scandinavia. Nowadays, Salland's nature consists of forests and heathland. The forests have been planted to prevent sand drifts and form a nice change between the dry heathlands. The last viable population of grouse in the Netherlands lives here. After lunch at Hotel Restaurant De Zwaan in Raalte, you cycle back over the Delden moraine, which extends from the Twickel estate just above Delden to the area south of the Twente Canal. The cover sand relief here is still reasonably intact and representative.
