Tour of Bossche Broek, Heusden and Maas

Your route starts at IJs & Taartmoment. From here you cycle through the Bossche Broek, which is increasingly turning back into the swamp area of almost four centuries ago. You will pass close to the Loonse & Drunense Duinen National Park with its beautiful forests and sand drifts. Here you can possibly visit Giersbergen, the hamlet consists almost entirely of thatched long-facade farms. You will also pass the Wheels of Waalwijk. A wheel is a pool of water in the landscape that is created by a dike breach. Waalwijk at one time had as many as 27 of these small water surfaces. Be sure to get off in the fortified town of Heusden! You cycle back along the Bergsche Maas. This part of the Meuse was dug by hand at the end of the nineteenth century.
