Surae walking route in Boswachterij Dorst

Your walking route starts at Smaak Lokaal, where you first enjoy a cup of coffee. Today you will discover Boswachterij Dorst, a nature reserve that mainly consists of Scots pines that were planted on the heath in the early nineteenth century. There are also a number of clay pits created by a former brick factory. They have been restored in recent years, you can walk right past them. The area is called'Surae\\\' and consists of the rowing lake, lily pond and swimming lake. After being dug in the early 20th century to extract loam, the ponds were used as a swimming pool and water purification. The boating pond has been made more suitable for bank weeds by lowering the steep banks. The pond was also made shallower for the amphibians. All the greenery has now grown back nicely.
