Tour of Vlaardingen harbor and Broekpolder

Your route starts at Delta Hotel / Grand Café Nautique, with a beautiful view over the Nieuwe Maas. You first walk a bit on the Maasboulevard. Then you discover the harbor. Vlaardingen is considered the herring city of the Netherlands. Fishing has always been important in the city's history. After a nice lunch at your starting point, it's time for the second part of the route: the Broekpolder. This route takes you through this rugged nature reserve of forests and water features. In the Broekpolder you will find a nice mix of forests, open spaces and water features. It is wonderful to stroll through nature here. And so close to the city! You walk back along the Vlaardingervaart, a drainage canal that dates back to the Middle Ages.
