Tour of Vlaardingen harbour and Broekpolder

Your route starts at Delta Hotel / Grand Café Nautique, with a beautiful view of the Nieuwe Maas. You first walk a bit on the Maasboulevard. Then you discover the harbor. Vlaardingen is considered the herring city of the Netherlands. Fishing has always been important in the history of the city. After a delicious lunch at your starting point, it is time for the second part of the route: the Broekpolder. This route takes you through this rugged nature reserve of forests and water features. In the Broekpolder you will find a beautiful mix of forests, open spaces and water features. It is wonderful to wander through nature here. And that so close to the city! You walk back along the Vlaardingervaart, a drainage canal that dates back to the Middle Ages.
