Tour of the Nieuwe Maas and Broekpolder

Your route starts at Delta Hotel / Grand Café Nautique, with a beautiful view over the Nieuwe Maas. Enjoy a coffee with something delicious here before you hit the road. You first walk a bit on the Maasboulevard. You can walk through the Heemtuin to the nature around the Krabbeplas, a recreational area with beaches, sunbathing and playing fields. The remains of the Krabbeplasmaman were found here in 1990: a skeleton of 3300 years old. In the Broekpolder you will find a nice mix of forests, open spaces and water features. You walk back along the Vlaardingervaart, a drainage canal that dates back to the Middle Ages. It is nice and quiet to walk here with a view of the Broekpolder and the Vlaardingen-Holy district. This green neighborhood is named after the Ridderhofstad Holy.
