A varied tour around Terwispel, traditionally a "cattle farming village on sandy soil".
Old landscape features and beautiful unpaved paths provide insight into the history of this village, which was already mentioned on old maps in the 14th century as Wispolia.
The route runs along the nearby peat area (Van Oord's Mersken) and also touches on the ongoing battle against the rising water of the Ald Djip (the Boorne).
As you walk, you will get an interesting picture of this rich past, partly due to the various information boards.
