Tour of Veerse Meer from Yerseke

Your route starts at Scooter Huren Zeeland in Yerseke, where you can still clearly see the typical Zeeland historic ring core. The fishing village is best known for the mussels and oysters that are caught in the Oosterschelde, now a national park. You will learn all about the history of Yerseke and its fishing in the Oosterschelde Museum, in the former town hall (1914). You cross through small beautiful villages such as Wemeldinge and Wolphaartsdijk to the Veerse Meer. This saltwater lake was created by damming the Veerse Gat as part of the Delta Works. There are always many water sports enthusiasts to see here, a beautiful sight. You drive back along the Oosterschelde. Thanks to the ingenious Oosterscheldekering, the area is still connected to the sea, but the locks only close during storms.
