Tour Castle De Velner from Raalte

Your route starts at Hotel Restaurant De Zwaan. From Raalte you can take a nice walk to Castle De Velner, the location of a historic manor house in the hamlet of Tijenraan. It was founded in 1382. The name of the area is Velnerhoek, referring to the former manor house. The house was mentioned on a list of vassals as early as 1380. In 1838 the original building was demolished; only the driveway and part of the canals have been preserved. Those canals are still beautiful to see, there is also a farm on the site of the left building house from the Middle Ages. Charming Raalte is also worth a visit. In the village you pass the Roman Catholic basilica from 1892 and you see the sixteenth-century Plaskerk.
