Tour of Harlingen and Franeker

First, you'll cycle through the Frisian polders. Along the Doijumervaart canal, you'll look out over meadows where sheep graze. As you enter the terp-shaped village of Hitzum, you'll see the village church from 1883. Further on, you'll enter Harlingen. The old town center is a protected cityscape thanks to its many monuments. You'll pass, among other things, the Hannemahuis, the municipal museum housed in an eighteenth-century patrician house. The Raadhuisbrug (Town Hall Bridge) lies at the beautiful Noorderhaven harbor; if you cross it, you can catch a glimpse of the town hall from 1730. Via Wijnaldum and Herbaijum, you'll reach Franeker, the second historical hotspot on this route. Feel free to stop and soak up the atmosphere of this old town. And visit the world-famous Eise Eisinga Planetarium.
