Tour Dwingelderveld from Havelte

Your route starts at FUN eating and sleeping. You first drive through Havelte, a beautiful Drenthe esdorp, just like Uffelte, which you pass through a little later. From here you cycle via a beautiful route to Dwingelderveld National Park, the largest swampy heathland area in Western Europe. You can cycle beautifully along rolling heathland, drifting sand, forest and dozens of lakes and fens. Rainwater does not soak into the ground here due to an impermeable layer beneath the soil surface. More than sixty fens and heathland ponds have been created throughout the area. In summer, heather and heather color the area beautifully pink and purple. Grab a bench at the Davidsplassen and enjoy the butterflies fluttering around. The Dwingelderveld is the last place in the Netherlands where the rare peat butterflies still occur.
