Your route starts at De Rimboe & de Woeste Hoogte Hoenderloo. The cozy village of Hoenderloo is known as the gateway to De Hoge Veluwe National Park, but you don't have to enter the park to enjoy a nice walk. You walk through the Deelerwoud, which has everything that makes the Veluwe so attractive: extensive forests and endless heaths in a rolling landscape. It is very quiet here, you have a good chance of spotting a fallow deer or red deer! You also walk along the Woeste Hoeve, which was created long ago at the intersection of old Hanseatic and Hessen roads. The hamlet that used to be here has all but disappeared, but you can still see a tavern. It was built in 1771 on the site of a medieval inn.
