Description

This walk first takes you across the Groeneveld country estate. The castle was built in 1710 by the prosperous Marcus Mamuchet and has been inhabited and expanded over time by various owners. The 130-hectare estate is managed by Staatsbosbeheer. You will also pass Boswachterij de Vuursche. This forest forms one large quiet area. Quite special, because the Randstad is just a stone's throw away. This delightful forest area is a patchwork of former country estates. One moment you're walking through a dense and dark pine forest, a moment later you're stepping into an open forest where the sun's rays reach to the bottom. And occasionally you come across a climb, it remains the Utrechtse Heuvelrug! The end point is at the cozy and accessible Grand Cafe Groeneveld.
