Tour of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug: Amerongen and Austerlitz

Your route starts at Van der Valk Hotel De Bilt - Utrecht. You will be taken through the beautiful nature of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The vast forests on this route are full of old estates and castles that breathe the atmosphere of yesteryear. Be sure to stop at Kasteel Amerongen, one of the most beautiful castles here. Admire the castle and walk through the impressive garden that shows more than four centuries of history. Other castles on the route are Kasteel Kerkebosch and Slot Zeist. The village of Austerlitz also has a special history, it is named after a famous victory of Napoleon. It is known for the eponymous Pyramid of Austerlitz, a 36-meter-high pyramid of earth that was built in 1804 by Napoleonic soldiers.
