Description

Your route starts at Peter van Leeuwen Tweewielers. A great base to explore the vastness of the vast polders, or to make trips to historic towns. First you cycle to Maassluis, a nice place to get off. That medieval town became world famous in the nineteenth century for a towage company. You will still find the National Towage Museum there. Then you board the ferry Maassluis-Rozenburg - you might see huge container ships up close! One of the most beautiful places along the route is historic Brielle with its beautifully preserved defenses. The old city walls, nine bastions, five ravelins, an eighteenth-century gatekeeper's house and an equipped harbor battery with a bombproof guard house and many bunkers give Brielle a very unique atmosphere.
