City walk fortress and windmills of Heusden

Your route starts just outside the beautiful fortified town of Heusden. Here you can park your car well. Further along the route you can enjoy a cup of coffee with apple pie at't Wapen van Heusden. But first you make a nice round through and along the town. From the polder you have a good view of the star-shaped walls of the fortified town. In Heusden, take the time to admire the centuries-old buildings and wander past the shops at your leisure. You walk back past the three standard windmills that complete the image of the fortress. They were placed during the restoration of the fortress and rebuilt on the spot where they once stood. In the Middle Ages, these mills were in operation as a grain mill.
