Description

Your route starts at the charming Camping De Couwenberg. From here, you can walk straight onto the Neterselse Heide. This natural monument is incredibly diverse and has more to offer than just heathland, with its fens, stream valleys, forests, and rivers. In this tranquil and expansive area, you'll truly feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. A wonderful walk to completely clear your head. The Neterselse Heide is named after the nearby village of Netersel, one of the so-called Eight Beatitudes: Eersel, Duizel, Steensel, Knegsel, Wintelre, Reusel, Hulsel, and Netersel. They used to be called "de selligheden," or "the beatitudes." Dutch soldiers stationed here during the Belgian Revolution scornfully called the villages "the wretched." The beautiful old villages are typical of the Brabant Kempen with their many long-façade farms.
