Description
Meandering dikes, flowery meadows, creeks and salt marshes: this is the face of North-West Brabant. An unknown cycling gem where you can cycle carefree, along gems of cultural history. Tholen is one of the smaller islands in Zeeland. You can smell the salty scent of the sea everywhere. With its picturesque villages and tranquil nature, it is a wonderful area for a day of cycling. The fortified town of Tholen has a historic city centre, which is still largely surrounded by ramparts and fortifications. On the Steenbergse Vliet you can see the Benedensas: a restored monumental lock complex from 1824. There are still some beautiful historic buildings around the lock. From the lock gate you have a beautiful view of the Dintelse Gorzen nature reserve.
