Tour of Rucphense Forests and Visdonk Estate

Your route starts at Het Wapen van Nassau in Rucphen. First you drive through the Rucphense Bossen, a forest area that extends to the border with Belgium. The cover sand ridge with heathlands and drifting sand areas that was originally located here was planted with coniferous forests at the beginning of the 20th century. Further on you cycle past Visdonk Estate. Here you will find a varied landscape with old avenues, forest and heath. Get off at the Environmental Educational Center Watermolenbeek (MEC). Here you will learn everything about the special environment. The Visdonk estate already existed in the seventeenth century and in the summer beautiful bluebell gentians bloom around the Rosenven. In the Middle Ages a lively trade in peat arose here, which was exported via the Roosendaal port to Holland, Zeeland, Flanders and Antwerp.
