Walking through Gunterstein Park

From Hotel Flora Batava you walk towards the village of Breukelen. In Breukelen you cross the bridge at the Brugstraat. On the other side is Ridderhofstad Gunterstein. Gunterstein Castle is privately owned, but part of the park-like garden is publicly accessible. You continue your route along the Scheendijk. The Breukelen marina is located here and is directly connected to the Loosdrechtse Plassen. Passing the many country estates on the Vecht you then arrive in Nieuwersluis. Just before the bridge you will see the women's prison on your left. You cross the Vecht here and arrive at Fort Nieuwersluis. The fortress island and the barracks can be viewed from the outside and there is also a restaurant here where you can enjoy a delicious pastry.

Via the country estates of Rupelmonde, Sterreschans and Over Holland you arrive back at Flora Batava.
