Tour of Kalmthoutse Heide from Ossendrecht

This cycling tour takes you through the border park De Zoom - Kalmthoutse Heide. You drive into this former low peat area via Huijbergen. Over the centuries it has been transformed into a beautiful large heath with fens and pine forests. In nature you can squeak across the border unnoticed. You pass Putte, a border village that is partly in the Netherlands and partly in Belgium. Back you drive through De Stoppelbergen, which is part of the border park. The path in this mixed forest slopes because it is located on the Brabantse Wal. There are many maritime pines in the area, which you can recognize by their long needles and large pine cones. The trees are always crooked and the bark has a very coarse structure.
