Description
This beautiful large round takes you to Bergen op Zoom, a city with a rich history. The first wall of the fortified city of Bergen op Zoom was completed in 1335. This round shape can still be found in the street plan. The city gate Lievevrouwepoort has also been preserved. It was an important trading post, which grew into a garrison town after 1600. You cross the Brabantse Wal: you can clearly see the difference in height. This steep edge forms the sudden transition between the high Brabant sandy soils on the east side and the low-lying sea clay area of the Scheldt in the west.
