Description
Enschede has been working for a long time on combating flooding and on climate adaptation. In the 1970s, for example, the largest storage sedimentation basin in the Netherlands was constructed. With the wadis in Ruwenbos (1993) and the water square in Roombeek (2006), we were at the forefront of innovative solutions.
A few years ago we started with the construction of the Stadsbeek, which is now almost finished. In 2019, the Oldenzaalsestraat will be completely climate-adaptive.
The GroenBlauwe cycling tour takes you past all these places. In addition, you will pass wadis, green roofs, streams, springs and many more places of interest in the field of water and climate adaptation. The bike ride was made in collaboration with 1Twente.
