Mill route Rijpwetering and Braassemermeer

Your route starts at De Veense Bukker. You first walk to the Rijpwetering Canal. A little way into the polder you will see the Akkerslootmolen, a polder mill built in 1793. The mill, a wooden octagon with white-painted field walls, is located on the Akkersloot. You see polder windmills here in abundance, they are indispensable. The municipality of Kaag en Braassem even has the most windmills in the Netherlands: as many as 20! After you have walked through the picturesque village of Rijpwetering you will pass Lijkermolen No.1. this is a special mill: together with the Lijkermolen No. 2, these are the only twelve-sided stone mills in the country. After a stopover at your starting point, you can walk to the Braassemermeer. You walk back via the Veendermolen, a beautiful octagonal stone ground sail from 1830.
