Mill route Rijpwetering and Braassemermeer

Your route starts at De Veense Bukker. You first walk to the Rijpweteringkanaal. A little way into the polder you will see the Akkersloot mill, a polder mill built in 1793. The mill, a wooden octagon with white-painted field walls, is located on the Akkersloot. You see an abundance of polder mills here, they are indispensable. The municipality of Kaag en Braassem even has the most windmills in the whole of the Netherlands: no fewer than 20! After you have walked through the picturesque village of Rijpwetering, you will pass Lijkermolen No.1. This is a special mill: together with the Lijkermolen No. 2, these are the only twelve-sided stone mills in the country. After a stop at your starting point, you will take a short walk to the Braassemermeer. You walk back via the Veendermolen, a beautiful octagonal stone ground sailor from 1830.
