Tour of De Moeren and Oude Buisse Heide

Your route starts at Gastel Atmosphere. Wooded Brabant near the Belgian border seems miles away from everywhere. Yet big names in art have left their mark here: from Henriëtte Roland Holst to Vincent van Gogh. First you drive to Landhuis De Moeren. It dates from 1818. The associated farms are also a feast for the eyes. Van Gogh painted his first landscapes in the surrounding nature reserve. A little further on you cycle through the Oude Buisse Heide. The poet Henriette Roland Holst liked to be inspired by this beautiful landscape. She lived and worked here with her husband. Many celebrities came to visit. The adjacent Wallsteijn Estate is also beautiful with its stately old oak avenues, monumental buildings and hedgerows.
