Tour of Roosendaal and Visdonk Estate

Your route starts at Gastel Atmosphere. You drive through a beautiful rural area here. Further on you cycle across the Natuurpoort Visdonk, on the Visdonk Estate. Here you will find a varied landscape with old avenues, forest and heath. Nearby you can walk past the Environmental Educational Center Watermolenbeek (MEC). Here you will learn everything about the special environment. The Visdonk Estate already existed in the seventeenth century and in the summer beautiful bluebell gentians bloom around the Rosenven. In the Middle Ages a lively peat trade developed here. You drive back via Roosendaal. Long ago, peat was exported via the Roosendaal port to Holland, Zeeland, Flanders and Antwerp. At that time, the Vliet was still in open connection with the North Sea, so the Roosendaal skippers even sailed to England and France.
