Tour of Roosendaal and the Visdonk Estate

Your route starts at Onder de Toren, where you'll cycle through beautiful countryside. Further on, you'll cycle through the Visdonk Nature Gateway on the Visdonk Estate. Here, you'll encounter a diverse landscape with old lanes, woods, and heathland. Nearby, you'll pass the Watermolenbeek Environmental Education Centre (MEC), where you can learn all about the unique environment. The Visdonk Estate already existed in the seventeenth century, and in the summer, beautiful gentians bloom around the Rosenven. A lively peat trade developed here in the Middle Ages. You'll return via Roosendaal. Peat was once exported to Holland, Zeeland, Flanders, and Antwerp via the port of Roosendaal. At that time, the Vliet River was still directly connected to the North Sea, so Roosendaal skippers even sailed to England and France.
