Tour of Pannenhoef and Roosendaal

Your route starts at Gastel Atmosphere. At Bosschenhoofd you cycle close to the take-off and landing ramp of the small Breda International Airport, where you mainly see small planes. Just try to keep up with them! Then you cycle through De Pannenhoef, a unique and quiet nature reserve just below Etten-Leur in Brabant. Centuries ago, the Pannenhoef looked like the Peel in the east of Brabant. Plenty of peat was extracted here from the fourteenth to the seventeenth century. Everything was transported in dried form (peat) via peat barges to Breda and Roosendaal as fuel for households and breweries. Now there is a beautiful nature reserve of forests, fens and flowery meadows. Rare plants such as heather scallops and marsh deer hay grow along the fens. You cycle back via the old center of Roosendaal.
