Description
This beautiful walking tour takes you to the castle of Heeswijk with its beautiful avenues and beautiful castle farms. You then walk through the green valley of the river Leijgraaf.
North of the castle are the Heeswijk forests, which show a completely different aspect of the North Brabant countryside. The walk there goes over quiet country roads, lanes and beautiful forest paths. And past nature theater De Kersouwe. A little further on you can visit the Meierijsche Museum Farm. In this educational center you will learn more about the life, work and living of the farming population on the barren sandy soil of the Meierij.
Finally, you will pass the Abbey of Berne, the oldest monastic community in the Netherlands. After a walk of more than 11 kilometers you have earned a nice Abbey beer.
1. Before the church direction Berlicum, Hoofdstraat. First road diagonally right, Dokter Boutkanstraat. At the end of the road turn left, Veldstraat. At the end of the road, turn right at the three-fork, Fokkershoek.
2. Turn left at the end of the road, Kameren. At the intersection of junction 92, turn left, dirt road. Cross the road and go straight on. Turn right at the intersection just before the castle and moat. You walk all the way around the castle to the entrance of Kasteel Heeswijk.
3. After viewing the castle, turn right from the gate. After 50 m straight on, forest path, junction 21. Follow the forest path with bends and in front of a farm with yellow-blue shutters. You are now walking right in front of the former Kasteelboerderij Looz Cors Waremhoeve. Then follow the bike path.
4. After 400 m cross the traffic road, turn left and immediately right, Kameren. Go straight on after the bridge over the Leijgraaf, Dreef. At junction 40 forest path to the right, direction junction 90. Walk RD, ignore the path to the left.
5. Go straight on after the meadow at the three-fork. Keep right at the fork. Turn right towards junction 60. On the other side is Natuurtheater De Kersouwe.
6. Immediately after the Kersouwe at cycle junction 91, turn left into the forest path. Follow junction 70. Cross the paved road. Continue to follow the forest path.

9. At cycle junction 74 turn right Koffiestraat.
10. Turn right at Dintherveldsestraat, follow junction 31.
11. At junction 75 turn left Schuurakker.
12. Follow junction 35 Abdijstraat. Here you can visit the abbey of Berne of the Premonstratensian order.
13. Follow Abdijstraat towards junction 34.
14. Turn left at the Meerstraat.
15. Follow the Meerstraat to the end of the route.
8. After the bridge over the Leijgraaf, immediately take the first left along the Leijgraaf.
9. At cycle junction 74 turn right Koffiestraat.
10. Turn right at Dintherveldsestraat, follow junction 31.
11. At junction 75 turn left Schuurakker.
12. Follow junction 35 Abdijstraat. Here you can visit the abbey of Berne of the Premonstratensian order.
13. Follow Abdijstraat towards junction 34.
14. Turn left at the Meerstraat.
15. Follow the Meerstraat to the end of the route.
