Around Tilburg 2: North-West (Boswachterij Dorst, Dongen, Rijen)

From the station we start in a westerly direction, along the railway line, to the arable land between Tilburg, Hulten and Rijen. After some time we arrive in Rijen , where we drive past the Gilze-Rijen station through the Hoofdstraat to the town hall . From here it goes to café-restaurant De Vijf Eiken .

Now we drive along the railway line to Boswachterij Dorst , where we take a look at the beautiful fens, De Leemputten . Here, the former Surae swimming pool has been returned to nature. We drive on and arrive at De Seterse Hoeve .

We now drive through the woods towards the Wilhelmina Canal. On the other side is Dongen, where we drive past museum De Looierij , where you can learn everything about leather. A little further in Dongen you will find the Liberation Chapel and the remains of the former windmill De Hoop , now a national monument. In Dongen there are several places to eat or drink something.

We drive back to the Wilhelmina Canal, cross it and follow it back to Tilburg. There you will pass café-restaurant De Kievitshoeve , just before you return to Tilburg Reeshof station.
