Tour of Utrecht and the Utrechtse Heuvelrug

You cycle straight through the lush forests and heathlands of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. Via Zeist you cycle to Fort Rijnauwen. This fort was built here between 1868 and 1871 as part of the fortifications around Utrecht. A little later you cycle through the centre of Utrecht, which is naturally teeming with beautiful historic buildings. For example, on the Oudegracht you see Stadskasteel Oudaen. Near Groenekan you pass the nineteenth-century Molen Geesina, which has been made operational again. Then you cycle back up the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The wooded area of Den Dolder and Bosch en Duin is known for the majestic villas that wealthy merchants built here as holiday homes around 1900.
