Through the woods in the Antwerp Kempen

Green pearl
The route starts on the edge of Westerlo, a culturally rich and pleasant town in the province of Antwerp. Westerlo is also known as the Green Pearl of the Kempen because of the abundance of nature around the city. West of the city you drive through De Beeltjens, a stately forest area. You then cycle through Zoerle-Parwijs and Hulshout, two villages where you can soak up the friendly atmosphere and cultural history of the Antwerp Kempen.

The Hertberg
Heist-op-den-Berg is a cozy old town that is easy to explore from the saddle. You can make a stopover on the terrace of't Hoekske, an authentic Flemish bicycle café. In the countryside you drive through the Herenbossen forests that lie in the valley of the Grote Nete. Further on you drive through Het Goor-Asbroek, another green pearl! Finally, you will pass through Het Hertberg, a beautiful eighteenth-century forest.
