Monumental country houses in the IJssel region
In the traditionally prosperous IJssel region that you cycle through, you will find many country houses and castles. They are located on impressive estates that are in most cases publicly accessible. On this route you will find, for example, Huize Het Holthuis, a stately mansion from the early 19th century, and De Parckelaer, a monumental country house. Both houses used to be manors, fortified farms inhabited by nobles.

Recreational lake Busloo
The landscape of the IJsselvallei consists of beautiful, characteristic farmland with fields, meadows and wet grasslands bordered by rows of pollard willows. A little later you cycle around the Busloo recreational lake. There are plenty of recreational opportunities on the lake and there are no fewer than eight beaches around it with play facilities and restaurants.

Historic Deventer
Deventer is a beautiful historic city on the water. The city was once founded there because of its good strategic location on a river dune on the IJssel. Trade via the river was easily possible and the tolls that ships had to pay to sail past Deventer generated a lot of money for the city. Deventer therefore benefited greatly from the river IJssel, although the river also caused problems from time to time. The IJssel regularly overflowed its banks and it became wet in the city. Nowadays Deventer has a flood barrier, but the Welle is still regularly flooded at high tide.
