Historical monuments in Steenwijk and surroundings

Your route starts at MyHotel Meppel. Meppel has many sights left over from its rich trading history, and there is still a lot to discover here. You also cycle past a number of windmills. In the village of Nijeveen there is mill De Sterrenberg, which was brought to the Netherlands from Germany in 1977. It is the only mill in the Netherlands with a compass rose on the hood for automatic winding. In the center of Steenwijk you can clearly see the contours of the old city moat and parts of the old city wall. If you stroll through the city, be sure to visit the Rams Woerthe park, which belongs to the villa of the same name! Steenwijk is located on the border of several moraines and the low peat area of Giethoorn, where you cycle through arable land with beautiful large farms.
