Historical monuments in Steenwijk and surroundings

Your route starts at MyHotel Meppel. Via Ruinerwold you drive to the Drenthe town of Havelte. Here you will find Huis Overcinge, a monumental mansion. It was originally a fief of the Gelderse house Putten near Elburg and was already mentioned at the beginning of the 14th century. Via the Holtingerveld and the small village of Ansen you drive to the Dwingelderveld, where you can get off to take a look at the Dwingelderveld Visitor Center. In addition to natural beauty, you will also see old thatched Saxon farms and characteristic villages in Drenthe, such as Ruinen. At the village green you can spot the twelfth-century Mariakerk.
