Bicycle route Staverden, Vaassen and Elspeet

You begin this route in the smallest town in the Netherlands: Staverden, an estate that has held city rights since the thirteenth century. You ride through the woods to the vast Elspeetse Heide, where you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views. After junction 40, you cycle through the Royal Forestry Het Loo, one of the largest continuous forest areas in the Netherlands. And one of the quietest! On the outskirts of Vaassen, you can catch a glimpse of the centuries-old Cannenburgh Castle. A little further on stands Daams' Mill from 1870. Following the route of the former Baronnenlijn, you ride to Wenum, where you pass a centuries-old watermill. You ride through Forestry Het Loo to Elspeet, where you see De Hoop, a grain mill from 1894. The route ends with a pleasant stop at the terrace of Brasserie Staverden.
