Via the pleasant Noordwijkerhout you cycle to Keukenhof, an estate of more than two hundred hectares with beautiful bulb gardens. Also visit Keukenhof Castle, where you can see how the nobility used to live. Then you cycle past the bulb fields and the beautiful Kagerplassen. The Kagerplassen consists of 12 different lakes that are surrounded by a network of small reed ditches and waterways. The only inhabited island is Kaageiland, with about 400 inhabitants. Leiden has the oldest university in the Netherlands and is known for its rich history and the old city center with canals, monumental buildings and courtyards. In Noordwijk aan Zee you can take a dip. The route then leads you through the dunes. Nice cycling over rolling paths!
