Tour of Keukenhof, Kagerplassen and Leiden from Noordwijkerhout

Your cycling route starts at EuroParcs Noordwijkse Duinen. Keukenhof is an estate of more than two hundred hectares with beautiful bulb gardens. Also visit Keukenhof Castle, where you can see how the nobility used to live. Then you drive past the bulb fields and the beautiful Kagerplassen. The Kagerplassen consists of 12 different lakes that are bordered by a network of small reed ditches and canals. The only inhabited island is Kaageiland, with about 400 inhabitants. You see an abundance of windmills here: this humid area desperately needs them. The municipality of Kaag en Braassem even has the most windmills (20) of all municipalities in the Netherlands! Leiden has the oldest university in the Netherlands and is known for its rich history and old city center with canals, monumental buildings and courtyards.
