Tour of Medemblik and IJsselmeerdijk

Your route starts at EuroParcs IJsselmeer. During your walk you can stare into the distance for miles as you walk along the shore of the IJsselmeer. Many small sailing boats glide past on the water, their masts looking like small twigs from a distance. From the polder you have a beautiful view of the historic skyline of Medemblik, the oldest town in West Friesland. It received city rights from Count Floris V as early as 1289. The town grew into a prosperous port city. While other cities in the area continued to grow, time stood still in Medemblik. That is precisely why the town still exudes an authentic Dutch atmosphere. There is no shortage of characteristic facades during this walk, you will see numerous buildings from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
