Tour of Westfriesland and Koggenland

From EuroParcs IJsselmeer you can discover West Friesland: a region in the north of the province of North Holland, within the West Frisian Omringdijk. Here you cycle through a beautiful agricultural landscape with long ribbon villages. In spring and summer, the bulb fields create a beautiful blanket of color over the area. In Wognum you can interrupt your cycling tour for a ride in an old-fashioned steam train that runs between Hoorn and Medemblik. Part of the route runs through the Koggenland, whose name refers to the cogs from the Middle Ages: a jurisdiction that consisted of 4 or 5 villages. The land in this region has also been reclaimed with blood, sweat and tears. You will pass through some old villages that are so characteristic of this region, such as Zuidermeer.
