Description
From EuroParcs IJsselmeer you will discover West-Friesland: a region in the north of the province of North Holland, within the Westfriese Omringdijk. You will cycle through a beautiful agricultural landscape with long ribbon villages. In spring and summer, the bulb fields cover the area with a beautiful blanket of colours. In Wognum you can interrupt your cycle tour for a ride on an old-fashioned steam train that runs between Hoorn and Medemblik. Part of the route runs through the Koggenland, the name of which refers to the cogs from the Middle Ages: a legal area that consisted of 4 or 5 villages. In this region too, the land has been reclaimed with blood, sweat and tears. You will pass through several old villages that are so characteristic of this region, such as Zuidermeer.
