Tour of Amsterdamse Bos, Ouderkerk and Westeinderplassen

Your route starts at CityCamping Het Amsterdamse Bos, on the southern edge of the beautiful Amsterdamse Bos. Today you explore the watery and polder-like countryside around Aalsmeer and Ouderkerk aan de IJssel. In the old center of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel you will experience an authentic piece of Dutch cultural history. This area was already popular with the Amsterdam elite in the seventeenth century, and many country estates were built there. You cycle south along the Amstel, with a beautiful view of the water and the greenery. You also pass through characteristic hamlets and villages. Near Aalsmeer you come across the Westeinderplassen. This area was created by peat extraction, but was never drained. A nice place to get off and enjoy the silence and the boats along the shore!
