Tour of Brabantse Wal from Roosendaal

Your route starts at Outdoor Roosendaal. From here you cycle to Visdonk Estate, a varied landscape with old avenues, forest and heath that already existed in the seventeenth century. In summer, beautiful bell gentians bloom around Rosenven. You cycle a bit through the woods of De Wouwse Plantage Estate, one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. You will see old deciduous trees, but also Scots pines. It lies against the Brabantse Wal, a steep edge between the high sandy soils of Brabant and the low-lying marine clay area of the Scheldt. You cycle back through Roosendaal. In the Middle Ages, peat was exported here to Holland, Zeeland, Flanders and Antwerp. At that time, the Vliet was still in open connection with the North Sea, so the Roosendaal skippers even sailed to England and France.
