Tour of nature reserves near Moergestel

You cross the Reusel river and take a quiet road between fields and meadows. A little further on, you cycle into the Oisterwijk Forests and Fens. Take a look at the Kolkven, the largest fen here. This fen wasn't carved out by polar winds, but by the swirling waters of an ancient meltwater river. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, people began afforesting the area with Scots pine. Today, there's also deciduous forest. A little further on, you cross the vast heathland that forms the heart of another nature reserve: the Kampina. Here too, you'll find small fens, shimmering in the greenery. You cycle back to your starting point through small hamlets like Lennisheuvel.
