Tour of nature reserves near Moergestel

Your route starts at ROOT Eet- en Borrelhuys. You cross the Reusel and take a car-free road between the fields and meadows. A little further on you cycle into the Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen. Take a look at the Kolkven, the largest fen here. This fen was not blown out by polar winds, but was carved out by the swirling water of an old meltwater river. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, people started to forest the area with Scots pine. Nowadays there is also deciduous forest. A little further on you cross the enormous heathland that forms the heart of another nature reserve: the Kampina. There are also small fens here, you can see them sparkling in the greenery. You cycle back to your starting point through small hamlets such as Lennisheuvel.
