Description
Walking along the edge of the dunes and around the Castricummer Polder, you go through a rustic village area to the center of Castricum. The old Breedeweg with its monumental farms recalls the rural character of the former Castricum. Winding ditches and subtle height differences reveal the vagaries of the legendary Oer-IJ, where a resident from the 4th century was found in 1995: Hilde. Now the archaeological finds from all of North Holland are displayed in the Huis van Hilde archeology center.
