Description
Walking along the edge of the dunes and around the Castricummer Polder, you will pass through a rustic village area to the centre of Castricum. The old Breedeweg with its monumental farms is a reminder of the rural character of the former Castricum. Winding ditches and subtle differences in height reveal the whims of the legendary Oer-IJ, where a resident from the 4th century was found in 1995: Hilde. Now, the archaeological finds from all over North Holland are displayed in the Huis van Hilde archaeology centre.
