Maer or Korendijk route Castricum

Walking along the edge of the dunes and around the Castricummer Polder you go through a rustic part of the village to the center of Castricum. The old Breedeweg with its monumental farms recalls the rural character of the former Castricum. Winding ditches and subtle height differences betray the whims of the legendary Oer-IJ, where a resident from the 4th century was found in 1995: Hilde. Now the archeology center Huis van Hilde shows the archaeological finds of the whole of North Holland.
