E-bike route Amersfoort and Nijkerk

From here you make a nice loop to the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, via the beautiful old center of Amersfoort. The Leusderheide has managed to retain its original appearance because it is also used as a military training area. The construction of ecoducts allows badgers, lizards and foxes to enter and leave the area safely. Extensive heathlands and open sandy plains alternate with deciduous and coniferous forests. Sights in this area include a curtis, Poorthuis Ruiterberg (which is suggested in the novella'De Zwarte Ruiter\\\' by Simon Vestdijk that the book was written there - something which is not the case), and estate Den Treek, located in the border area of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the Gelderse Vallei.
