E-bike route Amersfoort and Nijkerk

From here you can make a nice loop to the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, via the beautiful old centre of Amersfoort. The Leusderheide has managed to retain its original appearance because it is also used as a military training ground. The construction of ecoducts allows badgers, lizards and foxes to safely enter and leave the area. Extensive heathlands and open sandy plains alternate with deciduous and coniferous forests. Places of interest in this area include a curtis, Poorthuis Ruiterberg (of which it is suggested in the novella'De Zwarte Ruiter\\\' by Simon Vestdijk that the book was written there - which is not the case), and the Den Treek estate, located on the border of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the Gelderse Vallei.
